We don’t do this often, but we’re going to implement a course correction for The Daily McPlay starting soon. We have taken some time off here and there over the last six months after publishing content for 707 straight days at some point, and while we mostly continued our March 2020 mission, we also started to drift into depressing areas that we have to let go now. It’s time to find joy in the sports we love, for that was what made us explore the territory in the first place: love. And what is the world without love?
Meh.
We know there are a hundred problems with modern-day sport. This is why we like our Random MLB Player Analysis miniseries, because it makes us smile and remember what we love about baseball. We want to bring that same joy, from MLB Monday and Friday Funday all the way through NBA Tuesday and NFL Thursday to NHL Saturday. We are not sure what to do with MNC Wednesday, since … well, yeah. We will finish our current miniseries on the early mythical national championships first, though.
These changes may mean we post less frequently, too, and that’s a good thing, for our own life/work balance(s). We do want to write about the reconstituted Pac-12 in the near future, as well, and try to explore the fun things about college sports here on the Best Coast. We have some other writing(s) we have been working on broader publication, and there are some short pieces, too, that we’re still developing while unsure of their eventual destinations. Again, we’re just going to change intent, message, and purpose.
And we don’t think we’ll ever write again on Sunday—not for spiritual reasons: just personal ones. Welcome to Spring 2026!
