Our look at the end days of football for the Conference of (real NCAA) Champions continues on this edition of Pac-12 Friday: it’s time to head to Corvallis and the Oregon State Beavers. In 100 years of competition in league, the Beavers have a .450 winning percentage, a 9-7 bowl record, 11 AP poll finishes, and 5 conference championships over the years—the most recent coming in 2000, though. Onward and upward, right?!

5. 2022

A 10-3 overall record, with a 6-3 conference mark, propelled these Beavers to a No. 17 ranking in the final AP poll. The defense was No. 16 in the country, and the overall SRS ranking was 15th, too. In the Las Vegas Bowl, Oregon State pounded mighty Florida of the SEC by a 30-3 score, too. A 38-34 victory in the Civil War against Oregon was special, too. This was only the third time in school history to feature double-digit wins.

4. 1969

These Beavers went 6-4 against the No. 13 SOS in the country, including a 4-3 record in conference—finishing fourth out of eight teams. They finished No. 27 in the overall SRS rankings, too. For the time period, there would be no bowl invitation, of course, but the highlights of the season for Oregon State were victories over Iowa, Arizona State, Washington, California, and Oregon—all on the road! Fear the Beavs.

3. 1968

Finishing 15th in the AP poll still wasn’t good enough for a bowl bid back then, but this Oregon State squad posted a 7-3 record overall with the No. 18 offense in the nation—and the No. 17 overall SRS ranking. The Beavers finished second in the Pac-8 behind USC, with the only league loss coming to the Trojans. All three losses came by six combined points, by the way, including one-point road losses at Iowa and Kentucky.

2. 2000

This would have been our guess for the best team in school history: No. 4 in the final AP poll, co-conference champs, Fiesta Bowl champions, the No. 14 defense, and an 11-1 record. Oh, and a No. 7 finish in the overall SRS rankings. A three-point loss on the road to Washington prevented the perfect season, but capping it all off with a Civil War win over the Ducks and a 41-9 thrashing of Notre Dame in the Fiesta was incredible.

1. 1941

This is a special season for many reasons, perhaps the most important being the Rose Bowl win over Duke after Pearl Harbor. The Beavers finished 8-2 and No. 12 in the final AP poll, thanks to the No. 8 defense, the No. 13 SOS, and the No. 5 overall SRS ranking. Oregon State lost to USC and Washington State on the road by a combined 13 points, but beating the Ducks and taking down the Blue Devils in Durham was special.
